About Jack Wright
Improvisation and childlike play are intrinsic aspects of my practice. Working primarily with oil paint; I aim to celebrate the medium with luscious brush strokes and thick, glossy layers. I pick out forms, shapes, and figures from the congealed brushstrokes, developing them. This allows me to grow a coalescence of marks that eventually split away from their surrounding parental strokes. I superimpose these forms upon backgrounds of varying familiarity.
